What makes Inspections by Bob different?
Independent
Bob gets most of his business from the Referrals and the Web. He does not rely on Realtors, contractors, renovators or any other business for his leads. He does not need to worry about upsetting a realtor by "Nixing the sale" with a tough report. Bob only works for one client, you. Bob is also not a franchise and does not answer to another company, dispatcher, scheduler. (you get the idea by now). The rules Bob follows are those set by the state and the American society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). Bob is also one of only four independently pledged inspectors in all of Maryland. more >>
Thorough
Bob takes his time and averages a bit more than an hour per 1,000 sq.ft of living space. Attics and basements are accounted for in that number most of the time. With paperwork and report discussion a small house can still take 2 ½ hours or more. A large house with issues can take a whole day. Bob takes the time to look in all the corners, cabinets, crevices, crawlspaces and attics that you may not even know exist. Sometimes Bob will see something in one location that takes him back to another place, or somewhere seemingly unrelated, to you. The house is constantly giving him clues and telling a story. It is Bob's job to gather all the clues and put together the story for his client of what has been done and not done and what should have been done, or not done. more >>
Picky
Bob has never been a plumber, an electrician or a carpenter. He has however been trained by many manufacturers and factory representatives the way things are “supposed” to be installed, the way the factory supports and warranties. Bob has also personally had to have many items in his homes replaced and he paid attention when the rep said “We have to replace this early because….” or “it wore out fast because…” The manufacture's installation instructions supersedes all other requirements, even ‘code’ so there has to be a really good reason for installing things any other way. “That’s how we have always installed it…” is NOT a valid reason. more >>
Qualifications
Bob is fully licensed by the State of Maryland as a Home inspector (click for License) Inspections Bob has also passed the National Home Inspectors Exam which is used by many other states and organizations. Bob is also a Certified Member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI) and is a Board member of the Local chapter (MAC-ASHI) and routinely teaches other inspectors as part of his duties to MAC-ASHI. more >>
Radon, Termite, Septic, Environmental Reports and Other Inspections
You wouldn't ask a carpenter to fix your plumbing would you? He might be able to, he has seen it done lots of times, but that is not what he is good at. Bob concentrates on doing ONLY Home Inspections, and doing them better than anyone else and that is what he is trained to do and continues to be educated to do even better. . Many other inspections would require additional time, materials, training and licensing which could distract him from his primary objective, the best Home Inspection of your home. Many of these other inspections can be done quickly, and well, by professionals in the individual fields. Those professionals know much more about their specific fields than someone who has taken a "several hour" or even a multi-day course to become "Certified.". more >>
